In the eighth edition of our retrospective series, we highlight the extraordinary farewell from Canadian Death Metal duo PERILAXE OCCLUSION. Their compilation "Vapor Chamber" features the band's complete discography and includes previously unreleased additional tracks. PERILAXE OCCLUSION turned heads in the Extreme Metal scene with their demo releases "Exponential Decay" (2020) and "Raytraces Of Death" (2021). Their boundary-pushing Death Metal is a mind-bending fusion of crushing riffs with doomier elements - a perfect mix of old-school Finnish style and modern, organic Death Metal from the Americas. "Vapor Chamber," their final offering, includes all tracks from these demos, 'Serrated Tessellation' from the 2022 split "Absolute Convergence," and two incredible new compositions: 'Procedural Proscriptions' and 'Dithering Anisotropic'.

Owners of the physical copy are also in for a surprise as all versions include an exclusive cover of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's 'X'!

With these ten tracks, PERILAXE OCCLUSION bowed out at their creative peak. In October 2022, they stated:

"This is a very difficult announcement to make. By late 2023, we will no longer be considered an active band, and all plans for a full-length album have been scrapped. We've achieved everything we could have hoped for in a band; loyal, dedicated fans, music on vinyl, recouping recording costs, and even earning a profit off extreme music. We thank each and every one of our supporters who all made this possible. […] We are all extremely grateful for all the support we have from our fans, labels who gave us a chance at putting our music on various formats, and to the supporting Death Metal bands who spread the word about us. Although we're nearing completion on the chapter for the entity that is PERILAXE OCCLUSION, we're excited to share new music with everyone in 2023!"
