2025 Retro – BLOOD ABSCISSION

In the second instalment of our 2025 retrospective series, we focus on BLOOD ABSCISSION and its uncompromising second full-length, "I I". Our series has so far explored "Black Noise" by BONG-RA (see here), with further 2025 DMP releases to follow.

Veiled in anonymity, "I I" reveals BLOOD ABSCISSION as a project with a clear and focused artistic vision: an emotionally charged take on Black Metal, built from driving riffs, epic harmonies and a constant sense of inner tension. While sounding powerful and direct, the five compositions favour atmosphere over brute force.

Released simultaneously with the first vinyl issue of the project's 2023 debut "I", "I I" revels in artistic continuity instead of making a marked break. The two records function as closely connected chapters: "I" lays bleak and solitary groundwork, while "I I" expands using more confident structures and refined dynamics.

Met with immediate acclaim, "I I" was praised for both ambition and execution:

Over the course of 2025, "I I" continued to receive attention and recognition – featuring on a number of year-end best-of lists, including Consequence's "Best Underground Metal Albums of 2025" (click here) and Wonderbox's "Best Metal of 2025" (check here).
