AKHLYS unveil video for 'The Mask of Night-Speaking'

"As from a black prism
Shines a black light
From a cold hearth
Rises a black flame
I have entered into
This House of Night
I have come unto
Death's domain
" ('The Mask of Night-Speaking')

Coming from the depths of AKHLYS' fourth opus, "House of the Black Geminus" (2024), the veil parts once more to reveal a sinister evocation steeped in nightmare. In kindred artistry, AKHLYS joins with the spectral hand of artist Chthonia (YouTube, Instagram, Bandcamp) to summon a new vision – a stunning visual invocation for album opener 'The Mask of Night-Speaking':

First conceived as an emanation from AKHLYS' live rites, these abyss-born videos have since taken on a life of their own: a manifestation both autonomous and entwined, amplifying the song's dread aura and expanding its arcane resonance. Check further videos here: 'Through The Abyssal Door', 'Maze of Phobetor' and 'The Dreaming Eye'.

Upon this new clip, Naas Alcameth (AORATOS, BESTIA ARCANA, NIGHTBRINGER) offers the following reflection:

"'The Mask of Night-Speaking' serves as the entrance to the "House of the Black Geminus" and ingress into its ordeals. Within the conceptual three-tiered structure, this track is placed at the middle level of the "hearth". This marks the beginning of an initiatic journey that will lead to the underworld, symbolized by the "cellar", and culminate in the empyrean, symbolized by the "attic", all situated within the realm of dreams, which was classically synonymous with the realm of the dead. The lyrics speak of a calling that has drawn the experiencer to this "place of darkness and ordeal". Here is where the dreamer takes on a new form, as the "mask is adorned", a mask that at once paradoxically conceals (the mundane and dayside ego), and also reveals (the dream-consciousness and shadow-self)."

"House of the Black Geminus" — together with the full AKHLYS discography and merch — is available on CD and vinyl through our EU, US, and Bandcamp shops.

A brief additional note from DMP: Though our releases can be streamed everywhere, the truest experience lies in holding the physical edition — a presence no platform can replace nor take away from you. Only the tangible keeps the Artist, and Art itself, alive.
